Hastings Metal Finishers
Ltd are specialist electroplaters. We concentrate only on doing the things
at which we excel. To satisfy our customers' requirements we operate an
accredited quality management system in accordance with BS EN ISO 9001:2000.
We have an on-site laboratory for physical and chemical testing and we
are members of the Metal Finishing Association which is a division of
the Surface Engineering Association. All work can be carried out in accordance
with the required British Standard, Defence Standard or other customer
specification.

Passivation
is the process where a relatively active surface that can corrode
or stain is deliberately treated with chemicals to convert the surface
to a passive one.
Passivates
contain chromium compounds and are used extensively on zinc plated
surfaces to extend the useful life of finished components. The colour
of the chromate film changes as the film layer becomes thicker,
from blue to yellow and through to olive / black.
